STUDENT INSURANCE

Erasmus students need to pay 187 pesetas in order to have student insurance coverage.

The academic insurance company was created in 1953. Its aim was to deal with certain family and health contingencies which could affect both secondary and higher education students.

To apply for the benefits covered by this insurance, you need to fill in the official forms available from the National Institute of the Social Security. You can also apply for these benefits at its Urban or Regional Agencies, where your queries will also be answered. The application form includes the minimum formal requirements, and must be submitted in the above-mentioned offices.

These benefits are granted by taking into consideration both personal economic situation and family circumstances of the student. Benefits are granted for: physiotherapy, cobalt-therapy, radio-therapy, radium-therapy, artificial kidney, maxillo-facial surgery. Health Centres f the student requires General Practice treatment due to common disease, or to determine the need of specialized care, he/she will be able to go to the following centres. Identity card and certificate of enrolment stating payment of school insurance will be requested.

In case of emergency you must go to the Hospital Clínico or Clínica Universitaria, at its surgery hours. Those hospitals and health centres under the National Health Service, as well as private hospitals, not mentioned above, are not included as cooperating institutions in the school insurance, and, therefore, their use will just entitle the student to receive the refund of the expenses, only in the foreseen cases and with the established rates.
